The word Ayurveda is made up of two components –‘ Ayus’ meaning ‘Life’ and ‘Veda’ meaning ‘Science’. Thus Ayurveda literally means, ‘the science of life’. This ancient system of medicine dates back to the Vedic period about 5000 years ago.
Ayurveda is the world's oldest known living and health teaching and comes from the Vedic civilization Altin diene. The knowledge was passed down orally for thousands of years - Ayurveda is considered as "the mother of medicine."
